(my PERSONAL beliefs on the case COMPLETELY aside) :
So, everybody is so strung out on Casey Anthony being acquitted— scrolling through my facebook/twitter/etc., all I can see is “THEY LET HER GET AWAY WITH MURDER!” and “BURN IN HELL, WITCH!” Fan pages dedicated to spewing uneducated hate, etc. Now, I hate to make assumptions, but I can only assume that the people saying these things didn’t watch more than 15 minutes of the case itself, but instead, just tuned into CNN and listened to Nancy Grace shriek and create a hate-filled frenzy.
As somebody who actually did keep up with the trial (and is slightly educated when it comes to the Criminal Justice system), the State of Florida did NOT provide enough evidence for her to be proven guilty of first degree murder BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. Yes, I am surprised that she was not convicted of manslaughter or child abuse, however, first degree murder was going to be hard to get her on. It’s not just me that believes that—it’s a pretty popular belief (among those who actually watched the trial).
Stop thinking that Casey is going to be living on “easy street.” She is not. She is currently the most hated woman in America, she will not go anywhere without being shunned and she is aware of that. Her life is in danger from the amount of hate and rage everybody currently feels towards her. Her family has been completely torn apart by this case. The street she’s about to reside on will be nowhere near “easy.”
One of the Facebook Fan pages that I mentioned earlier in this post had an information line of, “If she didn’t want a baby, she should have aborted or adopted it out!” Over 360,000 people had liked this page. Well, here’s this piece of information that I guess Nancy Grace forgot to mention to you all: SHE DID NOT WANT THE CHILD. She wanted to put Caylee up for adoption, however, her parents forced her to keep the child as “punishment.” Your witty little “pick up line” is completely incorrect.
Nancy Grace (and her minions) have turned this case into a complete media frenzy. Nancy is the one who brought this case to the media’s attention back in 2008, she’s the one who’s been beating this case to death, spewing hate and psycho-babble bullshit all over the place. She’s got America freaking out because a woman has been acquitted for—gasp—a crime that she could not be proved guilty of beyond a reasonably doubt.
Also, don’t respond to this saying “but, but, but, Casey didn’t call in her child as missing for a month!” or “they found some of Caylee’s hair in her trunk!” Don’t forget—I kept up with the case (and not the Nancy Grace version of it). I know of the evidence. I’ve kept my personal beliefs completely out of this blog entry and tried to post something that has merit. Now, since I am mainly a fashion blog, I’ll get back to posting photos of half naked women in black and white and vintage Chanel advertisements!
